Bad Ear Ache Help!

DS 4.5 has just woken up crying and clearly in pain saying his ear is really hurting 😢
He has had a cold for nearly a week now.
I've just given him Calpol.
He says it really hurts 😟
Is there anything I can do to help ease it for him over night? Any advice greatly appreciated.

I always put a wet flannel in a mug and then put it in the microwave for 20 seconds. Hold it over little ones ear. It relieves pressure and helps the pain
