Formula / Eczema / Cows milk intolerance

It appears my 8 month old son (who is now fully formula fed) has a cows milk intolerance. I know children with a full on allergy, and he doesn't have an allergy, but it's clear cows milk doesn't agree with him. The main symptom is eczema which he has various creams including steroid cream and it's sort of under control.

He has always had Aptamil, but since being fully FF, his skin has got worse. We then put him on SMA soy which is labelled for babies with a cows milk intolerance, and his skin cleared up but it didn't agree with his tummy and he's get sick as soon as he ate or drank anything. Part of me wants to keep him on it as it sorted his skin out, but he can't keep getting sick.

Has anyone had children in a similar situation? This is a very long way of asking if anyone knows of a formula which is for babies with a cows milk intolerance which is not Aptamil and if they could share their experiences if used to combat eczema?

Thanks

There are such formulas, but 1)they're prescription only, and 2)they taste absolutely disgusting, so you can't normally get kids to take them past the age of starting weaning foods.

Edit: take them for the first time, that should say.

Yes, a paediatrician I went to said she doesn't prescribe it to babies who have started weaning - the babies I've known to have it refused to drink if - but I don't think he needs dairy free as I don't think it's a full allergy. The SMA I put him on was for cows milk intolerance and cleared and wondering if anyone had ever used anything similar.

Edit: so yes have been to paediatrician but they are now only treating eczema with cream - and haven't really entertained the idea of him having an intolerance - I want to help by trying out new formula as am certain he has one

Have you joined the eczema society and their forums?

Also older kids w eczema who don’t get on with cows milk, often can tolerate goats milk. I have a clue if there is such a thing as baby formula.. but you can probably find out via eczema society

@Luredbyapomegranate no I'm not a member of any forum! Where can I find such a place? Thanks xx
