So both chicken pox and hand foot and mouth are going round ds’s nursery & these spots hav appeared gradually since last night, they seem to be mainly in clusters & worse around his groin which I thought was hand foot and mouth but they’re all down his legs & some on his stomach too which makes me lean more towards chicken pox? What do u guys think looking at the pics??!

I'd say Chicken Pox

Looks like CP

Probably chickenpox because of starting on the torso and because there are no lesions (spots) on the actual hands or feet, as far as I can see. You can get HFM all over the body, despite the name, but it's unusual to get it on the torso/limbs/groin without any spots on hands, feet and mouth as well. But I'm a GP, and I can't always tell the difference!

If it's chickenpox, you will see successive crops of spots, over the next few days.

Apparently chicken pox usually starts at the torso and spreads out whereas hfm starts on groin area or hands/feet and spreads to torso afterwards.

You will know if it's CP as yet fluid filled blisters will become crusty, if it's hfm they tend to stay as blisters and then just go down
