Lump on eye socket

I'm looking for some advice about my DS, aged 7. He had a playground collision with one of his friends 3 weeks ago, resulting in a very bruised cheek and black eye. The bruising has all but disappeared, but my son has a very noticeable lump under the skin on his eye socket. I had initially thought that perhaps it was a build-up of fluid underneath the skin, but it feels hard and DS says it hurts if I press on it.

I'm planning on ringing our GP in the morning to see whether I can get an appointment for him (which will probably initially be a phone call, as face-to-face appts are still limited at our practice).

Does anyone have any experience of this? Could the lump be fluid build-up after three weeks? I'm worried in case he's fractured his eye socket and I've let him down by not having it looked at by a doctor when the accident initially happened.
