I know this can be a controversial subject but I’m really just looking to see what other people’s opinions would be! I’d love to get as many responses as possible so I can gauge some sort of consensus.

My sisters never got my 6 year old nephew vaccinated against MMR. Ive recently had a baby and know that under 1s are at highest risk of complications if they catch one of these diseases.

I also know numbers are very low but I worry about it often as we see my sister and her children regularly.

This is not a debate about whether to vaccinate or not, purely just what would you do in this situation. I will be vaccinating my boy when he reaches 1. But what are peoples opinions on this? Am I being dramatic worrying about it? Should I just try to put at the back of my mind?

Thank you for any responses. I know this subject is tricky but I'm worrying about it often so please be kind.

I wouldn't worry too much about getting the diseases as most times they are mild and rates of measles are quite low at present (probably because of all the isolation). Get the vaccine when your baby turns 1 when offered it and try not to worry.

I'm sure they are reasons why they prefer to give it at 1 rather than earlier.

I worried about this with one of my babies when we were to be sharing a cottage with an anti vax friend. There was a website you could look up that told you where all the current uk outbreaks of measles were. At the time it was mainly students, older teens, and none were anywhere near where the friend was from, so we went for it and all was well.

The student and older teens outbreaks I think are the fall out from Andrew Wakefield, he was spouting shit from 1998 so those babies who's parents didn't vaccinate because of him are now around 20 and being crowded in together.
