DMSA scan

DD is booked in for a DMSA scan on the 29th.
Does anyone have experience of this? What will it entail? I know it's a long process as we have to be on the ward for 12, despite the scan not being until a few hours later.
DD gets quite anxious without me. Will I be able to be with her while she's having having scan to comfort her (she has selective mutism and can't speak to people she doesn't know)

My daughter had one of these (aged about 16months) and my husband was able to stay with her at all times (I was pregnant so wasn’t supposed to be near her but she struggles to settle for DH at times). Took her up to the ward to have the numbing cream, then we went out on the hospital grounds until a set time to get the injection then we went for another walk around the grounds until it was time for the scan. DH went in with her and held her hand the whole time. Hopefully your hospital will allow something similar?

Ah, thank you that's reassuring. I was worried she'd be on her own and not be able to tell anyone if she was scared.

I’m sure they won’t let a child go in on their own; the nurses understood and were great with her. I hope it goes well!
