Dribbling leaking urine

My daughter is 6. She has a water infection that went to kidney rather quickly back in may was in hospital then discharged after a couple days. Been fine since but I’ve noticed she often has a wee then goes back a minute later cos she hasn’t wiped proper or dribbled or still feels wet. I don’t know if this is normal for her age or if she isn’t wiping correctly, but I think the hospital scared her so she goes to toilet when she feels she has to so she doesn’t get another infection.

Has anyone experienced this? Her doctor from hospital will be calling us again in feb to check again as he said she if she has anymore infection may prescribe her a low dosage of antibiotics but so far she’s been ok. She also had ultrasound done and everything was fine besides kidney infection at the time.

I have actually just read in girls if they sit a certain way to wee they can trap urine in then it drips out after standing so this could be a cause which I’ll try changing.

@Loobylou1987 did this resolve? Having similar issues with my 5 year old?

@Anxiousmummy1187 did you do any to stop it or do you recall what changed ? It's driving me (and her) crazy

To the second poster, my daughter had this and it was a medical condition that required surgery. Maybe worth speaking to a GP if you're certain she's wiping properly and not rushing away before she's finished her wee

What condition was it? I've seen a doctor and urologist and physiologically they can't see anything wrong. I'm taking her for an ultrasound on Monday to rule out anything internal ?

I googled something and it said about having them
open their legs when weeing as holding them together holds urine in.

Yes I've now started getting her to do this.

It was duplex kidney with ectopic ureter, she had her kidney removed when she was 3. Its very uncommon to have the combination of things she had, but basically the ureter connected below where it should, so she couldn't control it, and she had kidney reflux as well. It was picked up on ultrasound antenatally and she had a lot of kidney and bladder infections etc as a baby
