Child coughing in morning.

This has been going on for quite a while so putting covid aside, how can I help a 10 year old with a morning cough? It's nothing major and doesn't last long at all but the coughs are like a dry barking cough! Never coughs at night but does when waking up every morning during the autumn/winter. Not so much in the warmer months.

Cold air, post nasal drip, central heating of course could be culprits. I don't tend to have the heating on at night, the coughing seems worse if I am to get up before him and out the heating on.

When he was younger he was particularly prone to cheery coughs, chest infections etc. He had an inhaler when he was younger. Mainly outgrown now but if he was to get a cold or any other respiratory virus he will get a lingering cough for weeks. Thankfully doesn't happen much anymore.

Doctors wouldn't take me seriously because it doesn't impact him hugely and coughs don't last for long. Literally a few seconds.

He always coughs when exerting himself when it's cold - running around etc.

my other had a weird dry cough always had it his mother just said it was a funny quirk >.> .But as my mother had a feather allergy i realised he had the same thing

Maybe just something at home irritating the throat a little but not enough to be a real problem.
