Weird rash, internet detectives assemble!

My daughter woke up with a rash on her hands this morning. It is like a burn. She hasn't used any new lotions/creams/makeup/shampoo/conditioner. I haven't used any new washing powder/softener. She hasn't eaten/drunk anything new. She went in a hot tub yesterday but there wasn't a reaction until this morning. She was out of the hot tub by 4 yesterday afternoon and it want there until she woke up this morning. The rash is warm, swollen and red. It looks like burns but she hasn't touched anything. It also has the same pattern on both her hands and here is the extra weird bit she also has it on both little toes and her heels which seems to rule out her touching something hot with her hands (which also is ruled out I think by the pattern being the same on both hands). I spoke to a pharmacist who said to try anti histamines and painkillers and keep an eye on it. The tablets haven't made it go away so now I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be? 1st photo is this morning, 2nd photo midday, 3rd photo 4pm

Hand, foot and mouth ?

stupiduser · 31/10/2021 21:15

What are the other symptoms for that?

Also does it create a matching rash?

Covid? A lot of children got covid toes. Look at Google images, I think it looks similar.

stupiduser · 31/10/2021 21:20

I have looked at hand foot and mouth. She has no sore mouth, is eating well, the rash isn't blisters but looks all raised and the skin feels dry. She also has no temperature so I don't think it's that. I'm going to look at covid toes but she has had no covid symptoms

Weirdly my daughter came out in a similar rash on her hands from being in a hot tub, a few days later she developed hot tub folliculitis which is a bacterial rash from germs in the hot tub.

stupiduser · 31/10/2021 21:24

Interesting @Lallanala , what did you do about it? Was it really sore. It is painful to touch

Covid toes /fingers... If it was my kid I'd get a pcr (you could join the zoe app study and it would prob refer you for one so you could click that box)

It went away on its own but the rash that accompanied it was itchy so we used antiseptic for a while and emollient. In some cases I think it needs treating with antibiotics, watch out for any sign of a high temp, might be worth a trip to the GP if it isn’t better in a few days.

Also I did think initially my daughters callus like rash on her hands was possibly covid related but it turned out it was from the hot-tub; could be a coincidence I suppose though.

I really don't think it's covid toes/fingers. There are no actual blisters anywhere and she does regular LFTs so we have no reason to suspect covid has sneaked in. I am definitely considering the folliculitis though. It's the strange matching pattern of the rash that is confusing to me

Just an update to say she has been diagnosed with hand foot and mouth today. I would have had no idea!
