Martial arts & spots?!

Hi, my 18yo ds recently discovered Brazilian Jujitsu, (BJJ) loves it. His face tends to spotty, generally only a few but flares up from time to time, and he reckons the BJJ might be causing this. Any parent of martial art boy with similar experience? Any thoughts on how to help if so, I'd be sorry if he gives up fun, healthy, sociable new hobby because of his spots.

How can jujitsu cause spots? What could possibly be the connection?

Does he mean exercise in general? I guess not washing a sweaty face after exercise would not help with spots, but I can’t see that the situation wound be any different if he played badminton or went for a run...

Tell him to have a wash after training.

@SultansOfMing he thinks it's because there's a lot of contact with his face getting rubbed against the suit they wear, which is a fairly rough thick garment (and maybe on the mat, but he didn't say this).
@enjoyingscience he does always shower afterwards, so that box is ticked.

I do Brazilian juijitsu and you can get various skin infections if the gym has poor hygiene such as impetigo or ring worm.

Regarding spots it shouldn't make his face spotty.

Make sure he changes and showers straight after training and dries his body well.

Use antibacterial liquid in your washing machine and was on a hotter wash, my gis are fine at 60

Sometimes I can get gi burn where I've been choked and fought against it on my neck but it has never made my spots worse
