Anything to help red soreness under nose

ponyclub1234 · 23/10/2021 19:52

My 4 year old is so red under her nose and her cheeks from a runny nose. I keep catching her wiping with her sleeve & I think that's what caused it. It looks so sore & she screams when I try and clean her up. Any recommendations on what I can use to calm it down a bit & ease the pain for her?

Lanolin cream, like the lanisoh nipple cream you can get - it works a treat on things like that

SamVimesFavouriteDragon · 23/10/2021 19:59

Came on to suggest the same! I use it for me and toddler DS

Sudocreme works well or the one thing that helps my son is a nivea lip balm. That sorts it out in a day!

Melrose stick if you can get it and whatever you put on you need to put on often.

Weleda cold weather balm.

Completely smother in Vaseline at bedtime. Will be sorted by morning.

Lip balm. I don’t wipe my nose with my sleeve but I need it around my nose sometimes!

NautaOcts · 23/10/2021 20:08

Eucerin Aquaphor, it contains some lanolin. Protects the skin so it can heal. You can get it in boots.

@Inthesameboatatmo

Weleda cold weather balm.
Seconded. It's amazing stuff!

Vaseline or lansinoh after they’ve gone to sleep

ponyclub1234 · 23/10/2021 22:27

Thank you all.

I've snuck on some Vaseline whilst she's sleeping let's hope for a better day tomorrow!!

Bepanthen nappy cream works really well

Tagliatelevision · 23/10/2021 22:33

Savlon works a treat. A friend told me about it for a sore under nose area & I was sceptical but it completely heals everything overnight.

Shouldbedoing · 23/10/2021 22:35

Sudacrem or better still metanium cream around her nose overnight will work wonders

Fozzleyplum · 23/10/2021 22:51

I use Zam-Buk ointment, which you can buy from Amazon. It sorts out sore red patches very quickly, and smells good, too.

Luckytattie · 23/10/2021 22:55

Sudocreme solves everything in this house. It seems to clear everything overnight

A lot of things can sting - I know from experience! Whatever you do don't try moisturiser - bad bad idea of mine.

Vaseline is a winner for me. Basically all you need is a barrier cream to stop the excessive wetness. I've never had Vaseline sting my nose and now use it whenever I have a cold. Nose stays lovely and not red and sore.
