Inguinal Hernia - 4 month old

My LO has had an inguinal hernia in his groin since birth. He is now 4 months old. After a lot of waiting for appointments, we've now been told that it will need operating on.

He has always suffered from terrible trapped wind/very gassy and his hernia often makes a 'sloshing' sound. We have been told that it shouldn't be causing him any discomfort but I can't help but think the two could be linked. He often flinches as his hernia makes a noise.

I wondered if any of you may have any experiences of this? If so, how did you find the operation and did it have any affect on wind?

Many thanks
