Toddler flu vaccine

DD turned 2 earlier this year so this is the first year she’s eligible for the flu vaccine. But our GP surgery haven’t got it yet and don’t know when they will. Is this normal? I know pharmacies don’t do the nasal spray vaccine - is your GP surgery the only way to get it?

Dunno, but our GP surgery is shite and organised a toddler jab clinic on a Tuesday – let us know on Monday afternoon?! Can’t get through the them on the phone for love nor money.

We weren't available on the day of our toddler vaccine session and I keep checking with GP as they ask
But they never seem to
Know when they are getting any more! I think it's only available from Gp

We got a letter telling us to book an appointment for our toddler, but when I called they said they won't have any for a couple more months.
Standard incompetence round here.

I got a letter with an appointment already on it and it's are being done at the local covid vaccine clinic, I don't know if it's because my GP is so understaffed at the moment though.

Yes, we had a letter from the NHS, but when I rang the (exasperated sounding) receptionist said “sorry, you’re about the 15th parent I’ve had call this morning. We don’t know why the nhs sent those letters out, they don’t normally! We normally contact patients when we have the vaccine, and we don’t have it yet.”

I’m not criticising her at all, she seemed very frustrated at the nhs sending out these letters that meant she had loads of parents ringing up.

I ordered our FLuenz stock a month ago and have had no issues reordering? We've given hundreds.
Maybe it's a local issue. The supply chains are notoriously patchy.

Ethelswith · 18/10/2021 08:44

Our GP always seems to get all types of the flu jabs late - they must be at the furthest flung tentacles of a supply chain.

It's really annoying to see the 'get your jab early' 'get your jab now' official messaging when the jabs aren't fully distributed yet

My DD had her first this year, a couple of weeks ago. We’re in Scotland. We got a letter which gave us an appointment at a children’s vaccine hub. Our GP wasn't doing them. My CEV DH has also had his along with his covid booster, at a different hub, after receiving an appointment by letter. Like everything it seems to be a postcode lottery! You could consider trying to go private, but not sure how easy it is to get the children’s ones privately?
