My daughter seems to be showing possible signs of diabetes. She's four. I've only just put two and two together that it could be and obviously now I've worried myself!
Her mood swings are off the scale
She's starving all the time
Very slim
Weeing around the clock
One bed wet incident but has been getting up a fair bit to wee
And I cannot stress enough; mood swings are off the scale!
There is family history but not that close.
Obviously I'll be calling her GP on Monday but is it ok to wait now I've realised it could be that?
Im probably wrong but there's a lot of similarities

Is she very thirsty?

If you suspect it I really wouldn't delay and I wouid go to A&E

DietCokeChipsAndMayo · 16/10/2021 12:44

My daughter is Type 1 and it definitely sounds like she is too
I would go to A&E, the GP will only send you there anyway, you will be in for a few days

happytoday73 · 16/10/2021 12:44

Honestly.. I'd pop into the chemist today for advice and hopefully they will give you the sticks so can check...

happytoday73 · 16/10/2021 12:45

I wouldn't wait till monday

FreakinFrankNFurter · 16/10/2021 12:48

Don't wait until Monday. That's a long time if she has uncontrolled T1 and things could deteriorate quickly

Crikey ok, Thankyou for replying I will call now.
I was hoping replies would be less urgent and not agreeing with me
Thankyou

How was your daughter iamtheoneandonly?

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 17/10/2021 22:43

Thankyou for asking. I spoke to 111 after I spoke to the pharmacist and they both said to call my GP for a referral tomorrow and meanwhile to keep an eye on her. I've done this and kept her home, been minitoring everything from moods to wees and just generally being paranoid.
She will be seen tomorrow, our doctor is a nightmare to get to see but with children they are usually, touch wood quite good.

How did it go OP?

emptyvesselsmakethemostnoise · 18/10/2021 15:55

Op please don't wait until tomorrow. Take her to a&e. They will do a simple blood test.
I waited for a gp appt for my dc and once the gp did the blood test he immediately called for an ambulance to take her to hosp.
From the time of the docs appt to their first insulin injection in hosp was 25 minutes.

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 18/10/2021 20:40

There were no sugars anywhere in her urine sample 👍🏻it's being sent off to be double checked but the doctor said she wasn't going to even do the finger prick test as she was certain she's all clear

I was genuinely surprised but relieved. She matches all the symptoms down to a T

That's great news. What a relief for you.

happytoday73 · 18/10/2021 20:53

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 19/10/2021 12:06
