New glasses wearer

My dd 12 has been to the opticians and has been given a prescription for glasses. Her prescription is really weak - at 0.05.
I just wonder if it really is worth her getting glasses at this point. I know this sounds incredibly ignorant but I worry she will become reliant on glasses and her vision will worsen sooner or unnecessarily. I am after your experiences and welcome being corrected if I am being unreasonable

Is she long or short sighted?
What is the full prescription?

She's short sighted so -0.05 in both eyes

My 11yo had similar and the optician said she wouldn't recommend glasses.

My ds is more short sighted than that but the optician is holding off on prescribing glasses just yet.

depends
does he have an astigmatism that needs to be corrected? if yes then getting the glasses will improve things.
ask the optician.
