9 year old health issues

Hi all. My 9 year old has been going through some health issues and was wondering if anyone has gone through anything similar.

She feels a bad headache, gets stomache ache, needs to sleep, is then sick, goes back to sleep and is then completely normal and really hungry.

This started about three years ago and the episodes were about 3 to 4 months apart. I did not read to much into it as I thought that she had been upset about something. Her father is not in her life and at 7 she really wanted him.

This is still carrying on and getting less time between episodes. When it got to two in a week I took her to the docs. I was fearful for appendicitis. She has been referred to paediatric but still waiting.

She has now stopped been sick but is still suffering with episodes of headache, extreme stomach pain and it appears like her body just shuts down and she needs to sleep. Once the sleep is over, normally about 3 hours, she is extremely hungry and back to herself.

One thing I should also mention is that she is really sporty, popular in school and generally a well kid.

If anyone can help me with this or is going through the same I would love to hear from you xx

Is this a post somewhere you're reporting to the night watch, or have you posted in the wrong place? If so you'd be better off here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/childrens_health

hope you get some answers

1)This particular board is for reporting nocturnal troll activity to the duty moderators, so you may not get too many replies.
2)Sounds like it might be worth considering migraine.

Sounds rather like migraine which often presents differently in children, including nausea and vomiting.

I didn't notice it was Night Watch section. Ask for it to be moved.

I’m so sorry. Though I was in child health! Lol

Report to MNHQ to have the topic changed. It sounds like a migraine to me.

Crystalglass · 11/10/2021 23:43

My friends wee boy has similar and has been diagnosed with migraines. He just needs to sleep them off.

I used to differ from migraines as a teenager / in my early 20’s and I had to just sleep too.
Nothing else helped.

Hopefully you will get more support when you see a Paediatrician. If you are at all worried in the meantime then don’t hesitate to take her to a&e during an episode

Hi @Zeldee I’ve asked MNHQ to move it but they might not get to it until the morning. Maybe start another thread in Child Health and I’ll hide this one for now Smile
