DS is 6w 5d old and has bronchiolitis. We spent the day on the children's ward on Wednesday and he was observed. I had concerns over his reduced feeding and some slight recession when breathing. He didn't need any oxygen or feeding support and it was deemed that he was well enough to be managed at home. His feeds had dropped to only managing 2oz at a time so they advised I feed him every 2 hours to keep his intake stable. He is still producing wet and dirty nappies, his sats are good and his congestion is improving so I'm confident he is not getting worse and we are over the peak of the worst. He came down with symptoms on Saturday so Wednesday was day 5 of illness
My question is when will his feeding start to improve? I can't get him to take more than the 2oz at a time although he is hungry for more he just can't take more.im happy to keep going as we are for as long as he needs it and I know the signs to look for in case of decline but I'm exhausted from the stress and the feeding schedule. As a well baby last week he was taking 6oz every 4hours. He was 10lb 7 at birth and currently weighs over 12lb so not a small baby.
Any similar tales welcomed as reassurance please 😊
