Vomiting at night

Hi all, I'm hoping that the simple answer to this is that my daughter might have some kind of short-term bug and I've kept her off preschool accordingly…

For the past couple of nights my daughter has done the same thing-woken up at 3 am ish moaning and groaning, had a small sip of water and then projectile vomited all over her bed, waking up her sister and I having a full change of clothes, change of bedding, taking ages for them both to get back to sleep.

She did it again last night at exactly the same time, but is absolutely fine during the day! Really hungry, running about bright as a button, so she doesn't actually so sick. Is there something that could make her nauseas at night and then a sip of water bring it up ? Acid reflux? I'm awaiting a call back from the doctor but it's days away.

She is three years old. Last night she had a sip of water from a non-leak sippy cup when she was lying down, the night before she was sitting up and had a sip of water from a free flow up. Both times project of omitted immediately afterwards .

Is there any logical explanation for this? Thank you
