Itchy rash inner thighs

DC2 age 6 has has an itchy rash on her inner thighs on and off for 2-3 years now. It doesn’t look like much, a sprinkling of small raised bumps (some of them red). Sometimes they dry out and feel a bit rough. The main issue is it’s very itchy and can wake her at night.

GPs have seen and have no particular idea what it is, one said dermatitis, one said maybe eczema, but it doesn’t really look like eczema. She’s not overweight, thighs don’t rub together.

We have been given various creams by the GP, anti fungal, steroid etc. The steroid helps but if we stop using it for more than a few days the rash comes back. I really don’t want to use steroid cream on her forever.

Just wondering if anyone or their child has had something similar? Bit of a long shot but a last try before I ask to see a dermatologist. (Long wait for GP appt here never mind derm referral…)

@minipie, my DD has a similar rash for a couple of years too. I've tried various creams but nothing worked.

Did you manage to get this sorted?

Have you had bloods done? My dd had this before diagnosis of Coeliacs. Have a google for the rash associated with coeliac disease to see if matches.

Hi BobaTea no, still not sorted sadly. It calms down then flares up again. I need to go back to the GP and ask for a referral this time I think. Let me know if you find something that helps and I will do the same?!

2toast I will have a look, thank you. But wouldn’t she have other symptoms with coeliac?

Hmm

It does look quite like the coeliac rash - the mildest pictures, not the severe ones.

Thank you - I will investigate

@minipie, I took my DD to the doctor and she was prescribed a different cream to try. Doctor said it look like eczema and gave her Zerodouble Gel which seems to be working so far.

Also at the same time I have stopped my DD from wearing her pants under her school skirt.
It seems it could be contact dermatitis.

So you might want to check if your little one is coming into any contact that she may be allergic to?

I meant hot pant!

Thanks BobaTea
