GP has not been to helpful in telling me what it could be just keeps providing steroid and fungal creams which is not helping. He is suspected to have milk protein intolerance he was back on his hipp organic milk and was doing good although developed this rash he ha now been back on hypoallergenic for over a week but still no change in rash could this still be due to his milk ?. Sorry for the rant just at my witts end constantly trying to find out if he can have milk protein or not.if any one could help would be great. Smile

Has the milk intolerance been diagnosed or is it just suspected. I'd ask for a referral to an allergy clinic for skin prick testing.

It could potentially be eczema but I'm not too sure tbh. Could be irritated from other things as well as the milk though including washing powder.

Ds was referred to dietician had they suspected intolerance to milk protein he has never been tested had him at the doctors yesterday they refused to send him for skin prick testing as said he would need to have a bad reaction even though he us reaction to something so im confused. Ds has been hypoallergenic milk alfimno for over a week and has very bad diarrhea with it but was ok on his hipp organic and neocate. I have been using same powder since he was born his rash only started over a month ago .

Try changing the powder anyway. I had been using the same powder since DDs birth and at 4 months she started reacting to it and had bad flare ups. I have now changed and she hasn't had any since. I use fairy non bio now but before was using Persil

Press for the testing for formal diagnosis as then you can get the prescribed dairy free formula milk & if you send baby to nursery I think they require the "action plan" letter you would get from the hospital.

My DD had a mild reaction of just hives under the neck so I think your GP is just trying to be difficult. Really insist.

I will try and change soap powder as im using persil non bio just now. I will keep pushing for testing as I would like to know so he gets the right formula and is 6 months soon so will start weaning . Ooh thats interesting to know about nursery as I did not know this . Yeah DS is only having like hives or eczema on right side of cheek and a little on his neck no where else its strange. Thankyou for your advice . Smile

No worries! It's awful when their skin is flaring up and you don't know what to do.

I was also going to ask what cream you're using on his skin? I was prescribed various emollient creams from my GP but some seemed to make it worse.

I am now using Aveeno baby Dermexa - the body cream and night balm and this has cleared DDs skin right up.

I also reduced frequency of baths so bath every 2 days & then cream with the Aveeno balm every morning and evening on the problem areas to stop flare ups happening.

I think I read somewhere that babies with eczema are more likely to have allergies to other things so if you're about to start weaning getting the skin prick test may give you more peace of mind when introducing fish, nuts and eggs etc.

I'm using the steroid and fungal cream the doctor prescribed yesterday on the flare up the now he suggested to use it for two to three weeks and if not away to go back im just concerned about putting steroids on his face for that length of time. I used aveeno when he was younger and he got a little rash might of been coincidence since then I have been using children's farm I can feel other patches of dry skin on his legs but they have not flared up or visible I can only feel them he sounds like he muccus in his chest but doctor is not concerned and wouldn't listen to me made me feel like an over anxious parent . So my partner took him yesterday and he made him feel the same and did not even listen to DS chest. I read online about reducing baths so have been doing that. Yeah im dreading the weaning for allergies so im hoping he is OK I just want someone to tell me if it is eczema as the doctor couldn't tell us what it is . I will keep asking to be referred to allergie clinic and hope it happens I understand the NHS is under pressure at the moment but I dont want my baby getting dismissed by a doctor when all he has to do is a referral.
