Hi all,

So my daughter looks like she has conjunctivitis, her eye is very red, pussy and puffed up.

What to do now ? Any suggestions and how serious is it ?

I’d phone your GP urgently. It’s uncomfortable but can be sorted very quickly with drops (at least, that’s what happened with my 11mo who had it). With a teeny tiny one I’d be sure to sort it ASAP.

Its quite common speak to your health visitor

Some people reccomend breast milk on the eye to clear it

fairgame84 · 21/09/2021 09:30

12 day old definitely needs a gp appointment as it will need swabbing.

A couple of drops of breast milk is magic stuff for that and worked on both my two children when they were babies.

Hi all ,

I can't get an appointment until tomorrow !! Do you think it's worth the risk of waiting?

I have been advised to use breastmilk and clean it with a warm jug boiled water.

Breast milk.
Squirt in a few drops at each feed.
It should clear up in no time.

Hi all,

So baby has just woken up and honestly you wouldn't of even known something wrong with her eye at all.

Obviously less worried but wondering is this common with red eye.
