15 month old yellow sore on head

My 15 month old has a yellow sore on her scalp. It's red around it, one large and several small all in a cluster. It looks sore, but doesn't seem to be bothering her. It is dry looking and not weeping.

She has had a blocked nose and temperature on and off since Friday night. I don't know of that's connected.

Do you have any ideas what it might be?

Pictures aren't great, sorry. She wouldn't keep still!!

Could it be cradle cap?

It looks a bit like cradle cap from your photos. Pop into your local pharmacy tomorrow and ask the pharmacist their opinion.

She had cradle cap as a new born, which was flatter than this. But it all went away by about 8 months. Can it come back?

My older 2 (nearly 5 and 3.5) still have mild cradle cap but it doesn't look like that even in thick flakes. Ive never seen a flake like that on its own so based on that I'd see a pharmacist if it doesn't settle/disappear by itself.

It looks red around it, is it possible it's a graze which has wept and then set iyswim?

Cradle cap,

Could be impetigo. Look out for other sores and check if she’s been in contact with anyone who might have had it

RichTeaCheddars · 20/09/2021 23:53

Hmm I was worried about impetigo. There are no other sores but she did go to a baby class on Thursday where one of the toddlers looked a little red and mildly crusty around mouth and nose. That could have been eczema though.

@UserOne it could be a scab that weeped I guess. Although it's an odd location on her head for her to fall on it she did have a hefty bump in her cot in the night so maybe it was then!

We're due to go to gp surgery to see nurse tomorrow afternoon for her 1 year vaccinations. We already cancelled last time due to a temperature and cold. Had to wait a whole month for a new appointment and now might have to cancel again! I'll have to call for advice in the morning.
