Anyone else got a child with a sickness bug?

My daughter started school last week and picked up a sickness bug. She's fine now but now my 2.5 year has caught it and is really ill with it. Seems much worse than my daughter did. He's only just gotten over having chest infection and now he's got this. Anyone else experiencing the same? I'm always so anxious when my 2 year old is sick as he can't communicate what's wrong with him.

My 3 year old just had a nasty one. Seemed ok after about 3 days but then we gave him a bit more ‘normal’ food and he was sick again so had to keep him off nursery for another 48 hours. He was very lethargic and grumpy! Felt so sorry for him but he was back to fully normal after 6 days. Hope your little boy is the same!

My little girl (2) started with the sick bug on Monday, it was awful but between being sick she seemed quite chirpy. Then she went down hill quite rapidly, especially on Friday- she was so lifeless & barely spoke. Yesterday she was like a different girl & hadn’t been sick for 24 hours so I thought she was on the mend but low and behold she was sick again last night. Come tomorrow that’ll be 7 days with this bug! She isn’t eating much & I’m also limiting what I gave so yesterday she just had a bit of toast, ice pops and digestive biscuit but she didn’t look for any more than that. She spewed it all up at 3am. She’s thankfully getting liquids and having wet nappies. Has anyone else experienced a bug that lasts this long? Just looking for reassurance that it’s quite normal!

Oh now...I've just asked the same question kinda.. only just started nursery and me and him stomach and all... hope the little ones on this thread feel better soon...

Yes my two have both been sick and it's been on and off since last weekend. My youngest was literally throwing up yesterday afternoon, then as soon as he'd stopped he was absolutely fine. Been fine all day today. Now my oldest is back to feeling unwell and she's been ok all week. I'm not sure if it's the same one or they've caught a whole new bug this week. So confusing! I can only assume there's so many bugs going around as it's September and they haven't been able to mix properly for 18 months.

I think you’re right that this is a product of them not mixing for so long. She was in lockdown at 6 months old so wasn’t exposed to much to build up immunity. It’s reassuring to hear that it’s not just her as I did worry it might be something else underlying. So strange how she can be fine one minute then throwing up the next. She’s not got an appetite back even when she seems well. Hopefully it won’t last much longer & I hope your wee ones will be ok soon!

My DD started on Friday morning vomiting. She's still struggling now to eat anything. I'm just trying to keep her fluids up

Try giving dyrolyte. You can buy at pharmacy, sainsbury or other grocery stores I am sure. It basically has the right mixture of salts sugars to help them hydrate when being sick. I’ve got three kids, two of which had sick bugs a few weeks ago. I always do the same. Make them comfortable in the bathroom (little mattress on floor) blanket, pillow and iPad or books. They actually quite like it. We start w small sips of water slowly. Like one sip and wait a few minutes. If they tolerate that then more and more. I never give food unless they are hungry. I always start W something like bread sticks or white toast or apple purée or banana.

Thank you so much! I couldn’t get her to take the diorlyate the other day when I tried & she’ll only drink water, she doesn’t like juice so couldn’t hide it in anything 🙈 however I have managed to get her to take activated charcoal & last night we were spew free so I really hope that’s not just a one off and has made a difference. It’s been a lonnnnnng 8 days lol! Thank you! :-)
