Hello,

My DS(2) is due to have his flu vaccine on Saturday. He's had a cold since last Thursday and a cough since last Friday.

Covid ruled out. Over the week his cough sounded a bit chesty. Not coughing as much now but the receipsionst said there is no other date for children to have their vaccine. It's only this Saturday Confused. Could I go anywhere else? I don't think I can. She also said they have to be 100% healthy which NHS says different Confused

Also, would you get them vaccinated whilst they had a runny nose and a cough? I have HA anyway so worry that if I go ahead with it I'll make it worse.

I haven't cancelled it yet and don't want him to miss out on having it and also don't want to make his cold worse. Ahhh!

I think there's no point in having a sniff vaccine when full of snot - it won't get through!

Very poor show not to have fall-back dates

On NHS, it says they can go with a runny nose just not a blocked nose.

This is my problem. If they had another date I'd just rebook! Usually there is always another date but apparently not.

Mine DC have colds this week, covid ruled out with PCR test. I called the GP and they said as long as they don't have a fever and can sniff, it's fine. I was also reluctant to cancel since I don't think there are more appointments available.

See how they are on the day, they might be much better by Saturday.

Thank you. I will. Just stressful isn't it.

I would probably give, as long as they weren't acutely unwell, had a temp or were nasally congested. If you postponed for every cough and cold some children would never get vaccinated.
Practice nurse.

Thank you and very true. My HA is saying well if you do it'll make him worse. Bloody horrible.

We had to postpone his year jabs because he had a fever which was fine as I knew I could re book them whenever. It's just the fact she said there was only one date which worried me.
