Constipation

My eldest child (now 7) has been on movicol since he was 1. There no real improvement and any reduction in dose has serious consequences. My youngest child (5) was always fine in regard to bowel movements but has now started to present as constipated - two accidents in the last three weeks and a bloated tummy.

I am so, so down about it and feel like crying. I honestly don't know why this is happening. I am fully up to speed with foods to eat and amount of water to drink and just do not know what I'm doing wrong. Does anyone have any practical advice? It would be much appreciated.

Movicol didn't help my DD (5) at all. She sees a bowls consultant who prescribed Docusate Sodium and Senna, and she's much better.

Poo accidents normally occur after children have been constipated for a length of time. What are your youngest poos normally like? Does he know what a healthy poo looks like and to tell you if it’s not?
