Help! Toddler rash around mouth

pinkgin85 · 01/09/2021 20:18

20 month old started nursery last week and we have been expecting some bugs to pop up. So last night he had a temp of around 38.9/39 but it came down after nurofen and it hasn't returned all day. He's been completely fine and his usual hyper self. The only other thing is he's got quite a bad rash around his mouth, small red bumps and he normally never has any so I'm wondering what it could be?

Secondly, what should I put on the rash?

Has he been dribbling? My daughter gets a dribble rash around the bottom of her mouth when she's teething

I was just about to say it looks a classic case of hand, foot and mouth. All three of mine have had it.

GP said it's doing the rounds, but isn't it always! First week at nursery and it begins Sad

Luckily he seems completely fine otherwise, she said had some sores inside the mouth too but other than that nowhere else.

He's still eating and drinking as normal so I'm hoping he'll recover quickly

Thanks all!
