Hi….. is anyone knowledgeable about this?
Long story short….. my 6 year old was very poorly last year with these symptoms:
Severe leg pain that woke him in the night
Leg paralysis and tingly cranky unable to move for 6 hours
Fever and neck pain
Rash unbalancing on legs below knee
Ankle pain
Nose bleeds
Pale
Puffy face
Swollen eye
Skin peeling on feet
Obviously all very weird….. ambulance to hospital discharged Same day with diagnosis of suspected hsp vascultis.
A day later he had very high volumes of blood in his urine and high protein. Was admitted with high bop too.
After a week of close monitoring he was discharged with glomerulonephritis. With the most likely cause to be strep infection. This was never proven with a positive strep test or anti body.
He came home but monitors weekly for 8 weeks on kidney ward to monitor bp and bp meds and urine protein and blood.
After 4 months his urine and blood tests were satisfactory to be discharged. On discharge I had copies of all blood tests.
His blood tests revealed still very low white blood cells and high platelets. Was told of symptomless don’t worry he also had a positive antibody (anca).
The last few weeks after many weeks of a very well boy he has started to show signs again, his feet have peeled completely, whole pieces of skin, his legs hurt a lot and his limps and has had a nose bleed.
His urine looks ok.
Am I being over worried?
It’s just that antibody test is linked with autoimmune diseases and I am now worried he may have one which caused the severe it acute glomerulonephritis.
I can call the gp, but last time I got fobbed off with that’s a bit specialist…
Any thoughts?
