9 month old spitting out food

My son is going to be ten months old next week and he's tried a variety of foods. If I feed him something purée or mashed up he'll eat it. But I find when it comes to finger foods such as toast, fruit, vegetables etc he'll put them in his mouth and suck on it for a bit then push it back out his mouth.

He's still on 4 7oz bottles of formula a day so I know he's getting his nutrients from that and his weight gain is fine but is it normal for him to just be pushing the food out his mouth? If he has toast and fruit for his breakfast I feel like most of it is actually being spat out rather than eaten.

Yes perfectly normal. All about learning different tastes and textures.
