Baby bumped her head!

God I feel so bloody guilty I keep crying!
DD is 9 months. Pulling herself
Up and cruising. We have a low bed and in the morning she comes in for a snuggle before we get up. I popped her on the floor for 5 seconds while I got myself out of bed. She pulled herself up on the side of the bed and was cruising along the side. She fell back but her head went forward and she bopped her head on the side. 😭

Instant scream. Instant bruise and swelling. I called 111 straight away. Doc called me back and sent a picture over text. Said just to leave her be. Give some calpol and watch out for any sickness or unusual drowsiness. She seems absolutely fine now! Playing and being her normal self. I just feel so guilty she's got a right little shiner bless her.

I know it's normal once babies get mobile and there will be bumps and lumps along the way. I just feel so guilty. We try and baby proof everything in the house and there's always something else they seem to hurt themselves on. This time our bed!

Will the swelling go down soon? It's already gone down a lot and it only happened an hour ago. The instant blue bruise has turned pink.

Don't really know what the point of this post is. I just feel like the worst mum in the world 😭

If you're the worst mum then so are the rest of us! Getting an egg on their head at some point is a right of passage. It sounds like your little one's swelling will go quickly but the bruising usually lasts for a week or so.

You will feel bad but there'll be many more bumps to come. I'll try and make you feel better... my little one fell OFF our bed and bumped her head Blush
Don't be too hard on yourself xx

I guess now she's cruising I've opened up a world of head bumps and lumps 🥴

The swelling has gone down loads.
I know I'm being silly feeling guilty. It's nobodies fault - us parents just immediately blame ourselves don't we! She's just had a yogurt and some milk and seems fine. Just panicked as it's the first time she's ever hurt herself like that!

3 days before my DD's 1st birthday she fell and scraped all down her nose on my dads coffee table Confused we then covered it with a big heavy blanket (we were staying for a few days), the day before her birthday she decided to fall into it again but ended up with a lovely massive black eye Hmm
Don't feel bad op!!

Oh bless her. It's scary isn't it.

My DS was 12 weeks and he was laying on his play mat and my DN was playing with a toy (quite far from him) tripped over his own feet and the toy came flying over and hit DS on the head. It was like it went in slow motion. It was bloody horrible my heart sank. I did take him over to A&E because he was so young but they gave him the all clear. My DN was distraught (as was I secretly) I just kept thinking my poor baby.

DS is 2 now and frequently thinks it's okay to headbutt objects... Hmm

Yes the swelling will go down but will have a nasty bruise I suspect. Hope she feels better soon x

I have a five month old. I'm dreading this stage 🤭
