Severe stomach pain

My ds, 7, has had severe abdominal pain for nearly a week Now. It does come and go over the day but at its worst it is very severe and he is very pale and listless and has no energy or Desire to do anything . Saw a GP a few days ago who couldn't diagnose anything and said probably some kind of virus but he has no other signs of any infection. No sickness or diarrhoea or fever, just this pain. It is all over the tummy so they discounted appendicitis. Am going to go back to GP tomorrow as it doesn't seem to be getting better. Has anyone experienced anything similar with their child? Think not constipation as is going regularly.

Sorry to hear that - maybe push for stool sample and blood test?

Hi my eldest had his appendix out when he was in year 4 and his was all over his tummy and he wasn't sick at first either. I would get him checked again just incase. I hope he is ok

He did complain of his tummy hurting for nearly a week on and off before it got really painful

GreenTortoise · 25/08/2021 10:03

I'd take him to A&E if it's severe and been going on a week and he goes pale! I wouldn't even bother with the GP sounds like appendicitis. That's a ticking time bomb in itself. Hope he feels better soon OP and doesn't get fobbed off by the doctor.

I'd also agree it could be appendicitis. When I had mine out at 12 the pain was all over my abdomen.

Thanks all - I am going to bear that in mind and keep a close eye - been back to GP today and he still thinks just a virus as it is all over and tummy doesn't hurt when pressed. Going to do a stool sample bit that is as much as he could offer us...it's just so hard to see them in so much pain and be unable to help

Could it be constipation?

Even if your dc goes every day could have it stored further up and not be able to pass everything out.

Can still be constipation even if going regular
High dose probiotics can help

Moonlaserbearwolf · 25/08/2021 14:53

Yes, could definitely be appendicitis - pain can be all over and come and go.

DappledOliveGroves · 25/08/2021 15:16

Could be mesenteric adenitis. DD had this aged 10 and ended up being admitted to hospital for a few days because they thought it might be appendicitis. As far as I recall it goes away on its own. But definitely worth going back to the GP.
