Seizure in 8 month old?

I'm not sure if I witnessed my 8mo have a seizure this evening.

We were at the end of a long car journey (had been taking breaks every 2 hours though) and she was very tired having not slept and been quite fussy for most of it. We put on some white noise and she started to make some strange jerky movements with her head and arms. Her eyes were also quite glassy and rolled slightly once. She might have just been falling asleep and fighting it - she tends to throw herself around a bit when she's tired. I stopped the white noise and tickled her a bit, and she came back to. She's been fine ever since.

I think it's probably nothing but it's niggling me. I'm on hold to 111 but it's taking forever. We're on holiday so miles from home, and I don't really fancy an unnecessary trip to A&E on a Saturday evening. Any advice / hand holds?

Sorry, phone autocorrect *Was she hot at all? As in maybe had a temp?

It could very well have just been twitches like you do when you are very tired and drifting off but good idea to get it checked.

I wouldn’t go to a&e unless any issues currently, I’d book a gp appointment and ask for a referral to the first seizure clinic- they won’t do anything after 1 seizure but should it happen again you will be on their system.
Seizures can happen because a child is mildly ill/ has a temp etc- and can be one offs. If not one offs there are tests- my daughters first seizure was at 18 months old- 2 further seizures and the tests confirmed she epileptic. Her first seizure was the scariest moment of my life!!!! Huge hug and hand hold from me but don’t assume the worst!

Thanks everyone. A clinician will give me a call back.

I don't think she had a temperature, though she was a little bit sweaty when I got her out of her car seat so maybe it was warmer than I realised. She certainly doesn't seem ill, apart from a bit of teething trouble.

It's so hard to know what to do! I feel silly if she was just falling asleep but really don't know what to make of what I saw. It would be when we're on holiday too!
