Broken leg experiences

My 3 year old has broken his leg - tibia spiral fracture, pretty bad I think
Been in full leg cast just over a week abs is fine pain wise, just bit bored and frustrated.
I feel like I’m struggling more - haven’t got fracture clinic appt until next week and keep wondering what the process is.
Have any of your LOs had a broken leg? If so how long were they in full cast? After that did they get put in a half cast/boot/walking cast?
His is non weight bearing and have just been told to elevate as much as possible.
Just looking for some insight into what to expect - none of my other children have ever broken anything!

Hi guys,
New to mumsnet so hope I’m doing this right.
Need some help/advice.
Last week my DH badly broke his leg and is due for more operations in the next few months. Thankfully we have him home but as you can imagine he’s in a lot of pain but trying to put a brace face on for our two DD who are aged 7 and 4. My 4 year old has taken it in her stride, perhaps she’s too young to understand and just thinks that daddy’s new plaster cast leg is really cool Hmm but my 7 year old is almost scared of him and won’t go near him and draw on his cast like our 4yo, she doesn’t really interact with him. I understand that it’s scary thing to have a poorly daddy but I can see it’s making my DH sad because he doesn’t want to scare her. Anyone have any advice on how to ease the situation for her.
Many thanks in advance.
