9 year old falling over all the time

Not sure if this is something to worry about or not - my 9 year old son has started tripping over things a lot recently and randomly falling down generally - not collapsing or anything but just significantly more clumsy. There’s nothing else that’s changed I’m aware of. Should we be worried? It’s over the last month or so. Wondering if it’s a growth/developmental thing?

If it’s a definite change I would get in touch with the GP for a proper assessment. Probably all ok but worth a check.

Has your son had an eye test recently? If not I would arrange one ASAP as they helped to identify the reasons why my 6 year old niece presented as clumsy - it was something we wouldn't want to have missed by delaying a check up. Similarly I would also get an appointment with the GP.

I’ve not noticed it as much and think it’s probably him being careless but my husband thinks it’s unusual. Hadn’t thought about eyesight actually, I don’t think he’s ever had his eyes tested!

Has he recently had covid? My child who has covid has this happening and they say it can be a side effect.

Could it be ear related? He did used to have glue ear a few years ago and has often had ear infections. Hasnt complained recently though. What sort of thing could it be if we took him to the GP? It’s very hard to get an appointment and wondering if I should be looking for other symptoms

No he’s not had Covid - that we’re aware of anyway
