Yellow light poop

Hi mommies! I need advice please!! My almost 3 year old every now and then has yellow poop, sometimes is just yellow and sometimes more pale yellow. I know that this colour should be investigated allready..his doctor every time i mention this he tells me if the child appears well not to worry. He does not have any other symptoms ,he is happy and energetic, nothing to indicate something off. Im getting a bit worried..and a bit confused as if i need to take further steps. Anyone with similar situation? TIA

Does he drink a lot of milk?

mommycarol · 01/08/2021 09:51

@zoeydollie hi :) well i dont know..how much milk is too much? He has a bottle when wakes up and a bottle at bed time, about 210 ml each time and in between he might have some cheese or yogurt. Does this sound much?

It’s quite a lot for a two or three year old. He can just have a couple of 100ml cups of milk at that age with breakfast or snack time, plus cheese & yoghurt.
I’d drop the bottles and see if it improves.

@zoeydollie ok i see..the thing is, this is the quantity he always had and his poop eas normal.

Why is a 3 year old having a bottle?

mommycarol · 01/08/2021 10:02

@zoeydollie this is what confuses me..he always had this quantity of milk and was fine. This is happening for the last month, the light yellow poop. He did have occasionally in the past, bus was not so often as now. Google and light yellow poop is a scary combination!!

It was probably the right amount when he was 12-18 months, but now he is almost three he should be off bottles and needs less milk.

mommycarol · 01/08/2021 10:04

@ineedaholidaynow hi :) he does drink normally other things like juice, water from a cup but he likes his milk in a bottle still 😂

The other toddlers/preschoolers I've known to have pale poos are those still having big bottles of milk.

If it's just occasional, he's otherwise healthy and your doctor isn't concerned then I doubt it is anything more worrying than that.

@zoeydollieby the way on the net says at this age to limit milk to 16-20 ounces. 16 ounces is about 470 ml..

I don’t think it’s good for their teeth to drink from a bottle

That's not the recommendation for the UK. From the age of 2 it's 12oz of semi skimmed milk as a drink, or two servings of dairy food.

zoeydollie · 01/08/2021 10:17

16-20oz would be the recommendation for a 6-12 month old who has started weaning onto solids.

mommycarol · 01/08/2021 10:21

@zoeydollieok i see!! Im not fro UK i will cut down the milk then and see!! Thank you so much ❤️
