Alopecia or Ringworm?

My son (15) developed a bald patch in December and was diagnosed with alopecia. The first spot has baby hairs growing in it for a few months now. Another patch appeared in May. The new spot looks different. It started as 3-4 pimples. Pimples (yellow heads) spread outward with hair loss. There are still blond hairs throughout the bald spot along with broken hair and black dots. Now wondering if it is Ringworm? He has had fungal toenail for over 1 year and more recently athletes foot. On oral Terbinafine for Nails. (Can’t find option to post pics?)

I have alopecia and have had ringworm

Not sure how you’re confusing the two

Bald patches often get spotty at the beginning as the skin biome changes to a greasier one.
Hair regrowth is commonly blonde or grey for the first few mm

Sounds like ringworm to me.

Thanks for reply, I wasn’t aware that the pustules could be linked to alopecia but it makes sense. There’s a few other things making me wonder... in March he developed blisters on helix of both ears and swelling of lymph nodes behind his ear. Went to gp. No explanation for this. I’ve since read this can be a reaction to fungus on the scalp. He has not lost all his hair on the current spot either. There are quite a lot of similarities when I read it and gp can’t be sure.
