Anyone had a test for gluten intolerance?

DD is going to have a blood test for suspected gluten intolerance/coeliac disease. The GP said she should cut out gluten before the test but the NHS website says you should absolutely NOT cut out gluten beforehand as it will mess up the results. This seems to make more sense. The receptionist didn't have a clue so can anyone advise please?

When my dc had this (was 12 years ago) the gp said for the test not to cut it out and have the equivalent of at least two slices of bread per day. The blood test came back positive so was then referred to a gastroenterologist whom said carry on eating good amounts of gluten till the gastroscopy was done.
For good/reliable information check out coeliac UK they were invaluable in the early days of diagnosis.

This is wrong advice. You should absolutely carry on eating gluten otherwise the test could be a false negative. Coeliac disease is an autoimmune disease so you need to be eating gluten for the body to produce antibodies - this is what the blood test is looking for.

(I’ve had Coeliac for 10 years.)
