Recurring temperature

Ds is 19 months and for the last 3 days he's had a recurring temperature, but he doesn't seem obviously unwell, no rash, no pulling at his ears or any spots. I've been giving him calpol and neurofen to bring it down, after about 45 minutes he perks up and is himself again. But as medicine wears off his temp spikes again. We've also had lots of night wakings and once it gets to around half 2 he's up for a good two hours tossing and turning like he can't get comfy and he's restless and unsettled. He's not off his food and he's drinking plenty. I'm going to ring the drs today and try and get an appointment. Anyone any ideas as to what could be going on?
