Hi my son has had a stomach bug for about 4 days but today he can't drink anything without being sick straight away, he's developed a rash on his back, sleeping all the time and he can't stand up because he says he's too dizzy?? He's also got a temp of 38 after Calpol, are they likely to tell me to get a covid test??

111 job.
Lethargic is a main concern along with keeping no fluids down.

TaraR2020 · 06/07/2021 15:37

Yup I think its time to call gp or 111. He's probably dehydrated if nothing else. Poor thing.

Oneearringlost · 06/07/2021 15:38

Def doctor, he'll prob be fine but is prob dehydrated hence his dizziness.

Mammaaof · 06/07/2021 15:41

Just taken his temp and it's now 38.2. waiting on Dr to call back but worried they will want a covid test before even seeing him.. x

They might but I took my LO to hospital when he was unwell he had a temp too and they didn't even mention Covid tbh he had no other symptoms

Purple21 · 06/07/2021 17:19

Did they get back to you?

Lougle · 06/07/2021 17:20

Yep, I'd definitely want him seen.

paradyning · 06/07/2021 20:46

Um he may need a drip if he is dehydrated. Definitely Dr

Mammaaof · 06/07/2021 21:00

Sorry yes Dr rang around 5pm and was happy for him to stay home 🤔 he's currently sleeping and has been for the last 4 hours, will ring back in the morning if there is no change x

Take him in to a&e if he gets worse. Don't worry about covid. It's more important to sort out his hydration. The hospital will deal with the covid end of it. Don't stay at home worrying about a covid test if you think he needs to be seen.

AddsVsGeorgs · 06/07/2021 23:52

Cant keep anything down and doctor said he was ok to stay home?!?!

That sounds like a A&E job to me

Benediction · 07/07/2021 00:55

Is he pooping, passing wind?

My DD had intussusception as a middle sized child and it presented with vomiting but no poo. It was serious. The vomit went brown which is a bad sign. Just in case. Any of those signs, go to A and E stat.

ineedaholidaynow · 07/07/2021 00:58

Did you mention the rash?

Mammaaof · 07/07/2021 03:58

Yeah mentioned the rash but he said it would be a viral rash and there was no point dragging him out in the rain for no reason and home was the best place for him to get better x
