Delayed vision or permanent impairment

I have a 7 month old baby boy who has a visual impairments, I was told by an eye doctor that he had severe onh with mild myopia, said that his vision won’t get any worse but it wouldn’t get better, I go to another eye doctor in another city and was told that his vision is impaired and that it won’t get worse but may or may not get better, and was also told to expose him to bright colors and lights and talk to him with my face close to his, I’m worried, he seems like a normal baby, he’s hitting his milestones, but there’s something wrong with his vision, doctor said there’s nothing wrong with his eyes but the nerves behind his eyes are abnormal, has anyone had experience with this? Did your child’s eyes get any better?, my son also has a little nystagmus it was worse around 3 months but has gotten better, at first he wasn’t tracking objects now he does once he focuses on it, so I have seen some improvement but not enough to satisfy me, I’m hoping that it’s just a delay. He has an mri scheduled to look at what is causing his eye issues.

All babies have pretty rubbish vision, they don't really get to adult levels of being able to see things until age 5. So yes, his vision should improve compared to what he can currently see.
It's also quite difficult to accurately measure how much a baby is seeing.
People with optic nerve hypoplasia have a very wide spectrum of acuity levels some have very poor levels and others can have near normal levels of vision and can drive a car.
It's just a case of wait and see there's no treatment for ONH, but stimulating the vision as suggested by the doctor will give him the best chance for developing good vision.

Thanks, I’ve noticed changes and I feel that his vision will get better, I’m praying for near normal vision!
