Looking for some advise ladies!
My boy is 9 months and woke up this morning with a temp of 38.2, within half hour he had gone up to 38.7
Tried giving him calpol twice, gagged both times threw it back up
Managed to give him calpol and he kept it down 3rd time
Spoke to 111, they sent me to local urgent care where he was checked over and they’ve put it down to a viral infection
Couple hours after I came home his temp spiked to 39.6! Phoned back to 111 as they told me to if there are any changes, they said someone would call me within the next 12 hours, so waiting for a call any time up to 3am
Long story short- calpol is only now bringing down the temperature for maximum 1 hour, he’s got a temp of 39.5 now, cold hands every now and then, and very sleepy and not himself ( has been all day so doctor is aware of the sleepiness) hes also allergic to ibuprofen so can’t give him that
Any advice on what I can do guys? He’s in pain and feeling so poorly for 5 hours and only gets a relief for an hour when calpol is due!
I’ve felt like I’ve bothered 111 too many times today so thought I’d try here x

The temperature reading in itself is not the big concern, it's how they are in themselves. If they're unable to be roused, not taking fluids and your maternal instinct is telling you they're really unwell, then get them looked at. My first DC would spike 40 with any infection but apart from on one occasion, was just under the weather. But my second, if they hit 38 they were seriously unwell and a blue light ambulance was required on a couple of occasions. Trust your instinct and if you have any concerns tonight, go to A&E, they'd far rather have a false alarm with a little one than the alternative. Flowers
