DS, 11, showed me a rash on his foot last night. It looked like eczema but isn't itchy at all. I've just looked at it just now and it's spreading. Still no itch. No other symptoms at all.

Can you post a picture.

I could be anything but a picture will help those with knowledge narrow it down

OldTinHat · 19/06/2021 19:07

Ring worm?

chicadelmonton · 19/06/2021 19:12

Sorry I'm trying to post the pic but it won't upload for some reason.

It's just one foot. Little spots and blisters. It seems to be spreading, about 50% more than last night.

Is that visible now?

That looks a bit like a eczema. Speak to a pharmacists and see what they advise. Most likely start on hydrocortisone and an emollient to begin with and see how it responds before moving onto a stronger steroid if necessary.

poorfanjo · 19/06/2021 19:41

Hand foot and mouth?

summerfun12 · 19/06/2021 19:44

Scabies?

imaginethemdragons · 19/06/2021 19:48

That looks like hand foot & mouth.
Has he got any of the same on his hands or around or in his mouth?

Your local pharmacist will be a great place to take him for them to look at and get the right treatment.

Hellocatshome · 19/06/2021 19:49

Take him to see a pharmacist, I always find them excellent for skin things.

chicadelmonton · 19/06/2021 19:53

No itching, so I don't think it's scabies.

@imaginethemdragons - nothing around his mouth - it's just the one foot, nowhere else.

Could be pompholyx (it has small blisters) if you google images +pompholyx + feet there are a few pics that look very similar to yours.

imaginethemdragons · 19/06/2021 19:59

Just with it being little blisters, I wonder if tomorrow/day after more will come out.
As long as he isn’t unwell with it.
Just in case it’s contagious, get him to wear socks & not share towels with anyone.

BreadmanAndCake · 19/06/2021 20:02

Looks like pompholyx. I have it on my hands and it's a real pain. Eumovate cream on prescription helps to keep the itching at a minimum

I have Pompholyx. It's usually on the palm of the hands or soles of the feet not the top and it doesn't look like Pompholyx to me anyway.

Can you do an e consult with your GP and send them a picture?

Wbeezer · 19/06/2021 20:15

@RavingAnnie, i get it on my hands so it doesn't look exactly the same and it's true its usually on the soles of the feet, so I checked by looking on Google images before I posted and there were several photos of pompholyx on what looked like children's feet that were on the top of the feet around the toes, otherwise i wouldn't have mentioned it.

itsgettingwierd · 19/06/2021 21:18

Yes pic is visible now.

Also this pomphlox or dischorric excema as it's called.

I get it terribly on my hands and sometimes on my feet.

You could try soaking in warm water with Dead Sea salt. This often helps with any excema type rashes

mineofuselessinformation · 19/06/2021 21:21

Pompholyx?

itsgettingwierd · 19/06/2021 21:21

I got it on top of my foot.

It also got horribly infected a few days later

chicadelmonton · 19/06/2021 21:35

@itsgettingwierd, thanks for your post, so yours wasn't itchy at all?
Hope it's all better now.

Looks like impetigo to me.

My hands were incredibly itchy. It kept me awake.

But my foot wasn't.

I used antihistamines and Dead Sea salt.

The thing that seemed to cure it though was when ds and I spent a week in Spain - thinking it was the sand and sea water 🤷‍♀️🤣

@chicadelmonton hi, I know I’m late and you may not even see this, but I’m really curious to know if you went to get it checked! I have the same exact symptoms, and it would help me out a ton! I’m a 19 year old female btw.
