Hey so just to start off my son has had a normal Covid test and to rapid Covid test all come back negative
My son for the past few days keeps getting random fevers they last a few hours reaching 39.5 I give calpol and nurofen and after a couple f hours it goes. Sounds normal but he is other wise completely fine all day bouncing off the walls then all of a sudden he says his head hurts stop drinking and eating then spikes a temp, then can't even stand up goes really dizzy and his breathing goes really heavy then after a few hours he's completely normal?
Then again same next day
His doctors say viral but he's fine otherwise like doing his normal terrorising so I don't think it's viral? Has anyone else had this, is it just viral infection
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Thankyou

Hello, my son is going through the same kind of thing. He is absolutely normal then spikes a temperature it's been going on for 5 weeks now, I have contacted my GP as in these 5 weeks he has been complaining of neck pain , more sleepy then usual and the temperatures but just on and off because he can be absolutely normal then just becomes poorly for a few hours. My GP have said if this carry's on for the next 2 weeks he has to be referred for blood tests.
Sorry your little one is going through a similar thing us mums can't help but worry x

Hey thanks for your reply so we went back to the doctors and this time they said his ears looked inflamed so prescribed antibiotics but they haven't helped, he's been referred to our children's hospital for other issues as he has enlarged antinodes which got diagnosed when he was 6mo so they think it's linked so hopefully we'll get to the bottom of it xx

Hi, I have had a similar thing with my son, he hasn't been quite right for 3 weeks now, most of the time is fine, but occasionally he will just want a cuddle and seems in paid, sometimes touching his ear and temp will go up to 38/39. He is only 2 so can't tell me what is wrong. Painkillers work, but I don't want to just keep giving them for weeks on end.
Would be good to hear what the childrens hospital say for you @Sophiej99

I’m sorry you are experiencing this and hope you get some answers soon. My god son is five and has been getting reoccurring fevers since last October. At first it was a monthly fever but since March it has increased to three times each month. It also starts with a headache, and he gets very thirsty - fever spiking to 38/39. Otherwise he is strong, healthy and happy. He has had tests to show it’s not viral or bacterial infection, so he is having more blood tests and is going to be sent to a specialist in a different country. The doctors have given him cortisone for when the fever starts, but this is not a long term solution. I guess we’re posting in case anyone else has experience of this or have any ideas. I hope you all get to the bottom of it for your little ones and that all works out well.
