Sudden limp

My 3 year old DS started complaining of an achy leg a few days ago. At first he wouldn't put pressure on his foot when standing but now seems to be doing that. He is walking slightly awkward (looks like a limp but the leg is stiff). He is now complaining that his thigh is aching. I've left a message for the doctor but to be quite frank that at absolutely useless at the moment. Has anyone else's dc had this? I'm trying not to scare myself by googling too much.

My friends DC did, they took him to a&e as got no where with seeing a gp.
Hospital more than happy to see them, X-ray and checks.
It turned out he had sprained his ankle.

GP and failing that A&E.

I was surprised that GP took it so seriously when DC (aged 3 or 4) couldn’t weight bear on one leg one day for no known reason. GP saw us straight away and got us sent on to hospital. It was a viral infection temporarily impacting his hip, but can be a more serious infection. He was fine the next day.

Not a DC thing, but I have a hip deformity and I often find I have odd muscle pains/spasms in funny places because I'm walking differently when it's painful - what my mum would call "holding" my leg, sparing it, walking with it at a slightly different angle to ease it? - and it works different muscles to those I normally use and so it aches.

Might it be something like that, if he's trying to not put weight on an injury?

Could be irritable hip

here

Best to get it checked out. Most likely to be a transient thing but you should get an injury or something like septic arthritis ruled out

All 3 of my sons had irritable hip around that age. It causes limping and is due to a virus.
