Hi just after a bit of advice really my daughter has been suffering with stomach pains recently they came originally a couple of weeks ago for a couple of days and went and are now back again she says its like hunger pains but she's not hungry also her tummy is a little bloated she's not screaming in pain but its causing her discomfort, im just wondering if pains like this can be caused by puberty? She has started to develop already only slightly! I don't really know what to do have tried docs but no apps I'm at a loss as to what it could be

Thanks in advance
Emma xx

Could she be constipated? Even if she's still pooing, if the poo is very hard to pass or she's having days in-between going it could still be the constipation. The ERIC website has lots of help if you think it could be that.

If you're worried about her, the gp has a duty to see her, or at least speak to you on the phone. Might not be an urgent appointment but they can't just ignore you. If they say there's no appointments, ask if you can get a call back from from gp for advice.

My daughter had this on and off for a little while just before she turned 10 and I did eventually take her to the GP, who was very lovely and said she thought it was definitely puberty related. And sure enough, she started her period just after she turned 10. I'd try and get her an appointment - my daughter was very reassured by the GP telling her it was puberty related (and she also said she should have a few squares of chocolate to see if that helped - she loved that!)

My daughter had this before she started her periods. They said it was abdominal migraines

My 10 year old has been having stomach pain for the last 6 months. GP have sent us to A&E twice to rule out appendicitis & have talked about abdominal migraines too.
The consultant has said it is most likely "functional abdominal pain" but they haven't ruled out puberty as an underlying factor.
