Two year barking cough (not croup)

Hoping for some collective help here. My son has had a loud, barking cough since birth. We have been to the doctors and hospital countless times. He is on asthma medication and just started reflux medication in case this is the cause of it. It is worse at night, sounds like he is trying to bring up/ swallow something. When it is at its worst he is coughing violently with his whole body. He wakes up screaming in pain as she cough hurts his throat.

Has anyone any experience of this? What could it be? Where do I push for a referral?

Asthma
Maybe related to an allergy?

Possibly, he does also suffer with eczema. It's just so loud! Nursery have raised their concerns and his key worker said in all of her decades of experience she has never heard a child cough like that Shock

Have you had a referral to ent? If not that's prob who needs to see him next (assuming he's already been seen at the hospital by a general Paediatrician?) In the mean time try to get some videos of the coughing if you can (if you haven't already) so you can show them exactly what you mean at n appointment
