Had to pick up my son early from my nursery today, they called to say he’s broken out in spots.

We had a Dr appointment and the Dr said it’s hand foot and mouth.

Feeling a bit pissed, we saw mr sister in law
last week, she has a 11 month old who was covered in a blister type rash on his ankles, hands and face.

Sister in law fold us it was eczema that had flared and got infected. However has now said today it could be hand foot and mouth as the Dr did mention that to them.... 🙄😯

Can’t help but feel like she knew what it was and just didn’t tell me!!!

Anyway just wondering how bad I can expect these spots to be.

They are sore but are just a normal childhood illness that generally resolve with no real issues in a couple of days. The mouth ones are the worst as they make eating and drinking uncomfortable so I would focus on whatever fluids he will happily take - extra milk, ice-pops, whatever.

Rubbish that the in-laws were a bit deceptive over it but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it personally, it's not like it was measles or meningitis.

It’s so so contagious in kids. Suprised a Dr would say to them oh it ‘may be hand foot and mouth’ and not then also follow it up with keep them isolated as a precaution.

Like the PP said, it’s not that bad and your DC shouldn’t be too affected, yoghurts and soft foods seem to help.
