Teeth braces and water park ..?

NeverForgetYourDreams · 15/05/2021 00:10

This may be a silly question but can DS15 who has fixed teeth braces go to a water park with water slides...?

Or is it a no no due to danger of damage to brace not to mention a very long weekend with them hanging off if he does damaged them .?

I might be missing something here so forgive me if I am but, why would going on a water ride make someone's braces hang off?

Rno3gfr · 15/05/2021 00:17

Why wouldn’t he be able to go?

NellyTimes · 15/05/2021 00:17

I would let him go, absolutely. You can get mouthguards that go over braces, so maybe get him one of those if you are worried, but I think he will be fine. I used to work for an orthodontist and we never advised people not to do this kind of thing. There is always a risk braces will come off whatever you do as they are not stuck on permanently, but I would think this is very low risk anyway.

I just thought the slides and being a bit silly and then he whacks his face on an arm or the slide ... and knocks a bracket off on a bank holiday weekend.

Am I being a twit? Happy to be called one just have no idea what is ok to do and what isn't.

The first set are a pain and the wires come out quite easily. When he has his 2nd set of wires out in they will not come out so easily as it is thicker wire.

After 4 weeks I was ready to give up but persevered and it gets better.

If one does pop off his tooth it will be fine for a day or two until you can get it stuck back on.

Adjustment would be a few days before water park visit so that may be good then. Thanks all

I was just going to say he has more chance of knocking off the brackets with food....then read your update.

Oblomov21 · 15/05/2021 06:18

Eh?
Of course he can go.
