11 year old being sick in the mornings

Hi,

For about 5 months now my son feels sick in the morning.
4 times in the last month he has been sick when he’s riding his bike to school, today being one of them.
He’s not anxious about school as it doesn’t happen at the weekends I did wonder this but he ensures me he isn’t and I really don’t think he is.
Do you think it’s a case of getting up early, eating breakfast then getting on his bike and riding the mile to school? I know if I go too hard on some cardio exercises I feel sick?
Or could it be low blood sugar or something?
I’m at a loss what to do. He has an appointment at the hospital in 2 weeks to see a consultant but it’s another day I’ve had to leave work and go and get him.
He is completely fine a couple of hours later?!
Any ideas from anyone to help us out would be great!
Thanks

Can you try an alternative method of getting him to school temporarily as a test? I personally couldn’t bike shortly after eating but I would have thought an 11 year old could manage it easier. Hope you find answers OP.

My DD was sick for quite a while in the mornings when she was 5, she was refusing to eat because she was scared and then she was sick so it’s a bit of a circle. I think she was anxious about school and things but as she was only 5 it was difficult to tell exactly what’s the problem. I was quite anxious about it too and it contributed as well, not saying that you are anxious.
I was regularly sick twice in my life and turned out to have helicobacter.

By any chance is he being sick on mornings after he's gone to bed on an empty stomach? Recently my youngest child has been sick a few mornings and I noticed it seemed to coincide when she had refused her dinner and gone to bed without eating. When I googled it suggested low blood sugar causing her to be sick. It does sound like your son's cause is more anxiety based thoigh but thought I'd mention it just in case.

As someone in their 50s who was cycling over a mile to school from the age of 7-11, I would doubt it's the cycling that's making him nauseous. I used to do it on a breakfast of a bowl of readybrek with a raw egg yolk added.

The PPs suggestion of heliobacter sounds a possibility.

Thanks!
I’ve never heard of heliobactor?!

Does he have an acidic drink/food like apple juice? That sometimes causes one of mine to be sick if they have it for breakfast.

I’ve been nauseated and sometimes vomiting in the mornings for months. It turns out I’m possibly diabetic (results today). Worth getting his blood sugar levels tested

Also I feel sick and angry after physical exercise, feel dizzy and week if I go too long without eating and also bizarrely feel overly fully and sick after eating (most things, not all) too.

Weak*

I really think it is that he is anxious and possibly doesn't even realise it himself. I was the same as a child & was sick most mornings but it really was a case of being anxious being away from my parents for the day.

I had this for months at a time in primary school.
A cause was never found apart from possibly post nasal drip or catarrh irritating my stomach over night.
Sometimes even now if I rush around on an empty stomach first thing I'll throw up. Possibly blood sugar related?

Thanks everyone, it’s worrying and weird cos he really does not seem anxious but then I’m thinking if he is why is he?
His teachers say he’s happy at school and has lots of friends?! Maybe it’s cos it’s all so odd at school at the moment or then maybe it is something like blood sugar?
As soon as he gets up he feels sick, he is never actually sick until he’s on his bike riding to school
He was sick during pe one day last week though so that’s why I thought maybe it’s exercise related?
I really don’t know 🤷🏼‍♀️
