What's this rash?

My DD (4.5 months) has developed this rash on her cheek over the course of the day. It's got bigger and redder as the day has gone on. It's hot to the touch - on an infrared thermometer it was over 38 degrees, though she doesn't have a temperature elsewhere. She seems in good spirits and doesn't react when it's touched.

She has had a patch of ringworm on that cheek (at the bottom) for a couple of weeks which is being treated with cream but doesn't seem to be clearing up. Not sure if that's related.

We called 111 (classic first time parents) who obviously didn't think it was anything urgent but said they will get us seen by an OOH GP within 12 hours. Obviously that means overnight though and I'm not siret it's worth disturbing her sleep for.

Any thoughts?

What's this rash?

Looks like slapped cheek/fifth disease

mineofuselessinformation · 09/05/2021 20:16

Slapped cheek syndrome? (Also known as Fifth disease.)
Have a google.

Could it be slapped cheek?

Davies1982 · 09/05/2021 20:19

I’d say slapped cheek too. It’s going round my DS school at the moment.

Is it not a call back within 12 hours?
Be prepared as I answered my call back at 4:30 this morning!
Looks like slapped cheek though

Lots of votes for slapped cheek then! The rash does look like it, she doesn't seem to have any other symptoms though and no idea where she would have caught it...

Agree with slapped cheek. DS2 had it at a similar age.
