Hi.. my son who is almost 9 still had 2 central baby teeth upper central incisor and one to the right. They should have come out by age 8 apparently so we’ve been referred but told to expect a long wait. Any one experienced something like this? He is small for his age.. thanks

Hi OP,

I have a 7 year old who still has his two front baby teeth. His two adult teeth however are present and they are almost fully erupted behind his baby teeth.

I went to the dentist last week because I have no idea why the adult teeth haven’t pushed his baby teeth out but the dentist said it’s not abnormal, not to worry about it and to go back in 6 months.

I was kind of hoping he’d extract the two baby teeth to allow the adult teeth to come into the right position but he didn’t even suggest that as being needed.

Telling me not to worry has done nothing to alleviate my worries Grin

My DS didn't lose the top two lateral incisors until he was 9, he lost the top two central incisors at 8.

He is now 15 and lost his last baby tooth at 14 and a half, still waiting for three of four 12 year old molars! Nothing was wrong, he was just late.
